Announcements for June 22nd - Become a fan of Troop 295 on Facebook !

Posted on Jun 22 2011 - 10:39pm

Become a fan of Troop 295 on Facebook! Select the "Like" button on the Facebook page for West Deptford Boy Scout Troop 295.  Share with friends and family members so they can keep up to date with Troop 295 events and activities.
Why are we using Facebook and how does it differ from the Troop 295 website?
Many people have access to Facebook today and this is a great way to reach out to extended members of the troop, friends, family and related organizations.  It is a great way to promote the troop and Scouting.

The Troop 295 website is a great resource for those directly involved with Troop 295.  Although the site can be viewed by anyone, it is primarily intended for Troop 295 adult leaders, parents and scouts.  Access to some information is available to the public and most additional information is secured and accessible only by approved members of the Troop.

The Troop 295 Facebook page is available to everyone and will be used as and communication and awareness tool for both Troop 295 members as well as other individuals and groups that have an interest or relationship with Troop 295.  Since many people use Facebook, it is an easy way to connect with people and keep people informed and involved.

In some cases the same announcement information will appear on both the Troop 295 website and the Facebook page for convenience.  The Troop 295 Facebook page will also be used to promote Troop activities, scouting events and scouting in general.  If you have any ideas on the use of the Troop 295 website or Facebook page or ways to promote Troop 295 or Scouting, please send an email to webmaster@wdtroop295.org or scoutmaster@wdtroop295.org

2011 Summer Camp: June 26th - July 2nd at Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation

  • - Mr. Purvenas distributed the permission slip necessary for Summer Camp (in the 'Files' menu). This is in addition to the materials that Mr Harris has requested as part of the Summer Camp registration process. Please note that while this permission slip does ask for medical permission it does not replace the full BSA medical form that is required by Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation. Bring this with you on Sunday morning.
  • - For those adults who are camping with us for the week you can set up your personal tent if you would like.
    - The camp does supply cots for the boys to sleep on. They are the army style canvass cots so no sleeping pad is required but may be used if you wish.
    - Please have your scout at the scout building by 10:00 AM on Sunday the 26th to allow us time to arrange for packing personal gear and any other last minute preparations prior to departing for camp.
    - Please find the attached parent information sheet for Hawk Mountain that can help you with packing and provide important phone numbers and directions to Hawk Mountain. A list of adult leaders and their mobile phone numbers will be sent out prior to camp, if you are adult leader attending camp, please send me you mobile number so I send that list at to all.

Acme and Shop Rite gift cards
Acme and ShopRite gifts cards are available throughout the year, including summer.  5% of the cards purchased goes towards the individual Scout account for future activities.  So, for every $100 in cards purchased, $5 will go to the Scout account designated.  This is a great way to add funds to your Scout's account and can be done throughout summer!.  Cards are usually available in amounts for $25 or $50 and there is no limit to the amount you can purchase.  If you would like to purchase a specific amount, please contact Tony or Bettina through email (trop4@verizon.net).
