Troop 295 has been a part of Boy Scouts of America in West Deptford since 1999.

Troop meetings are held every Monday evening at 7:30 in the West Deptford Scout Center from September through June.

Announcements for June 16, 2014: Last Weekly Scout Meeting / Robert Alscher COH / June Campout Photos / Summer Camp!

Monday June 16th --> Last Weekly Scout Meeting (7pm) and Court of Honor!!!
Just a reminder that today is the last weekly scout meeting and we will also have a court of honor to start off the meeting. The meeting will start at 7pm.

Reminder: Robert Alscher’s Eagle Court of Honor
Just a reminder that Robert Alscher's Eagle Court of Honor is this Saturday June 21st at 1pm.  If you have not RSVP'd on the troop website, please do so by end of day Friday June 20th so the Alscher's have a good headcount for attendance.

First Aid / CPR Certification Offered to Anyone Interested
We have several scouts that need to obtain CPR and First Aid (Red Cross) certifications prior to summer camp. We have an individual that has conducted this training or another group recently and will be holding a session for CPR and First aid on Wednesday June 25th from 6-8pm at the Scout Building. We are opening this to the first 10 people that would like to obtain these certifications (scouts or adults). I have added this to the troop site calendar for reference.
If you or your scout would like to participate, please email Phil Weidner directly by Friday June 20th. Please also email me if you have any questions.
Training/Certifications include:
1. CPR (professional) certifications which is valid for 2 years – includes AED
2. First Aid certification which is valid for 3 years
- Date/Time: Wednesday June 25th from 6-8pm
- Location: West Deptford Scout Center|
- Cost: $45 (may be less depending on the number of people) 

June Campout Photos from Fort Dix
Twenty scouts from Troop 295 attended the June campout to Fort Dix and had a great time camping and with many activities, including swimming, go karts, mini golf and batting cages.

June Campout is Next Weekend (Jun13-14)
The Monday June 9th meeting will be used for menu planning and general preparation for the campout to Ft. Dix. Please complete the permission form attached to this announcement and the calendar entry and bring to the meeting on Monday.
The Monday June 16th meeting will be the last meeting of the season.  The meeting will start at 7pm and will include a Court of Honor and an end of year party with snacks and refreshments.

Reminder for Summer Camp Dates - Medical Forms !!!
Medical Forms: From Cheryl Reeve: Hello everyone, Here is my weekly reminder that I need to have a completed health form and a copy of the front and back of your insurance card prior to the boys leaving for summer camp. For all the new scouts, you can get a copy of the form from our web site. There are sections that the parent needs to complete as well as your doctor. They will not allow the boys to attend summer camp unless this form is completed. Thank you to all the parents who have responded as to the status of their appointments/forms. If anyone has any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

May Campout Photos - NJ State Police and National Guard Camporee

Scouts from Troop 295 joined over 9,000 other scouts from around the area and camped at the NJ State Police and National Guard training facility in Sea Girt, NJ.  It rained a little on Friday (ok, maybe a lot!), but it was a successful camp out and a great day on Saturday.

Please Note: May 31 Event at Quinton Sportsmens Club (Now Rifle Merit Badge Only)
So that we can remained focused on completing the rifle merit badge, the event scheduled for May 31 will only for those pursuing the rile merit badge.  We will look for another date to have an open shotgun session.

WD Township Committee Proclamation for TJ Purvenas (Achievement of Eagle Scout)
Please make some time on this date to recognize TJ with the township committee!
From Tom Purvenas: TJ will be recognized by the West Deptford Township Committee on Thursday 5/15 (7pm) with a proclamation at the Public Committee Meeting that evening. I wanted to extend the offer to invite members of Troop 295 in attendance that evening.

Announcements for April 27, 2014: Six Flags Campout Photos / Summer Camp / May Campout

April Six Flags Campout Photos and Video
Scouts from Troop 295 joined over 1,200 other scouts from around the area and camped near Six Flags Great Adventure.  It rained a little, but it was a successful camp out and a great day for the park on Saturday.

2014 Summer Camp and Merit Badge Selection and Final Payment
May 5th:

Please bring your Merit Badge (MB) selections for summer camp to the weekly scout meeting on May 5th. We will use part of this meeting to provide guidance on MB selections and answer any questions for scouts on specific MBs

May Campout (May 16-18) is the State Police/National Guard Camporee 
The NJ State Police/National Guard camporee only happens every three years.  The May campout is three weeks away.  Get ready!

April Camp Out - This Weekend!
We have our April camp out this coming weekend (Apr25-27) at Six Flags.  This is the first time Troop 295 will be participating in this event.  It is the 20th anniversary of the event which is sponsored by the Jersey Shore Council.

April Court of Honor - Photos
Congratulations to all of the scouts that were recognized at the April Court of Honor. There were 42 Merit Badges awarded. Congratulations!

Robert Alscher Eagle Court of Honor
Please note the following from a recent email communication from Mrs. Alscher:
Scott and I would like to invite all scouts and parents to Robert's Eagle COH which will be on Saturday, June 21st from 1 - 5pm. The COH will be held at the Thorofare Fire Hall. The event is listed on the Troop website if you could please register so we have a head count for food. Thank you, Cathy & Scott

Gloucester County Historical Society (GCHS)
For any history fans, there is a scout exhibit at the Gloucester County
From the GCHS website: Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts have been a tradition in America for over a century.  The GCHS Museum is presenting a remarkable exhibit with scouting artifacts from over the decades.  Numerous uniforms, merit badges, equipment, manuals, flags, and accessories from the 1920's on are on display.  To arrange private tours for troops/groups - please call for available dates and times.
